Chef Patron Terry Farr
Before arriving in Pinner in 1992, Terry was Operations Director of a successful chain of City restaurants. He has held positions at The Connaught, A L'Ecu de France and The Savoy among others, picking up numerous awards along the way. Throughout his tenure, Friends has enjoyed successive entries in both the Michelin and AA guides.
Terry takes a keen interest in the teaching and development of cooking. He
is a former Vice Chairman of The Master Chefs of Great Britain, in which he
continues to be an active member, a patron of The International Culinary Arts
Centre at the London School of Tourism, Hospitality & Leisure, and a patron
of Thames Valley University’s London School of Tourism, Hospitality and Leisure,
at Thames Valley University. He is also a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts
He has for many years been involved
in running cookery activities at local schools, and is a regular contributor
to the Academy of Culinary Arts’ “Chefs Adopt a School” education scheme.
He makes regular cookery demonstration appearances at food shows and events,
and is on the judging panel of the local heats of the Junior Master Chef Competition.
Other ventures include running cookery masterclasses and hosting gourmet weekends
at various UK venues.
For many years Terry wrote recipe columns for the Harrow Independent, Harrow
Leader and Limited Edition magazine.

He currently has a column in the Harrow Observer and the quarterly lifestyle
magazine Ey. Terry's first book, based on recipes
from Friends, was published in December 1998. His second,
Better Cooking by Farr, is devoted to healthier eating and
came
out in October 2000.
